Ridin' the Ridge

Ridin' the Ridge - July 12-16, 2010

Charter Ride to Ridin'the Ridge (We will be having planning meetings before the March 17 sign up date.)

This is a National H.O.G. Event that requires all participants to be a H.O.G. member, either Full or Associates(No guests).

Blue Ridge Parkway from Roanoke, Virginia to Asheville, North Carolina

See the incredible beauty of a national treasure; the Blue Ridge Parkway. This exciting event will take you down the heart of the Parkway and through some of the best riding in the country. Ride the ridge with your fellow H.O.G. members. There's no better way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the beautiful and historic Blue Ridge Parkway.

No doubt, riding the Blue Ridge Parkway will be one of the most memorable aspects of taking part in H.O.G.’s Ridin’ the Ridge touring rally. But there’s more to this exciting event than riding one of the most famous and beautiful roads in the United States.

Ridin’ the Ridge begins in Roanoke, Virginia, where riders will kick things off with a welcome dinner, dealer party, and rides in and around Roanoke. From there, you’ll embark on a thrilling ride through the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains to Asheville, North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Parkway, which was designed and built with the scenery in mind, offers one spectacular vista after another as you wind your way along the crest of the mountains. It’s a road to be savored, not sped-through – and you’ll want to take plenty of time to stop and smell the flowers (often quite literally) along the way.

In Asheville, man-made beauty and spectacle will come to the fore as you take an exclusive tour of the Biltmore House and Estate. The largest private home ever constructed in the U.S., it took six years to build. Today it’s a National Historic Landmark, a major tourist destination, and a tribute to sheer opulence.

When you’re making plans to attend Ridin’ the Ridge, be sure to schedule a few extra days before and after the event. You’ll need them to see more of the surrounding area, which includes Skyline Drive and more of the Parkway to the north of Roanoke, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the west of Asheville.
