Standard Hand Signals
These signals will not cover every communication situation, but they cover the most common. Remember for these signals to work, they must be seen to be understood. When the Lead Road Captain displays a signal it is up to everyone in the group to pass it back to the riders behind them.

LEFT TURN
Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow fully extended.
ghs-03right-turn
RIGHT TURN
Raise your left arm horizontal with your elbow bent 90 degrees vertically.


ghs-04hazard-left HAZARD  LEFT
Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle and point towards the hazard.
ghs-05hazard-right HAZARD RIGHT 
Extend your right arm at a 45 degree angle and point toward the hazard.

ghs-08slow-down SLOW DOWN
Extend your arm at a 45 degree angle and move your hand up and down.
ghs-09stop STOP
Extend your left arm at a 45 degree angle with the palm of your hand facing rearward.

ghs-10single-file SINGLE FILE
Position your left hand over your head with your index finger extended upward.
ghs-11staggered-formation STAGGERED FORMATION
Extend your left arm upward at a 45 degree angle with your index and pinkie fingers extended.
